Frost making and robots

Part of our Winter Wonderland curriculum is following a book called “Nature in a Nutshell”.  These experiments, divided into seasons, are all less than 10 minutes duration.  They are all, fairly equally, way below Mr. D.’s science level but that does not stop them being educational in context and plain fun.

A recent experiment required the making of frost.  Needed:  tin can, salt, ice cubes, something to bash with, and for Mr. D. we needed the attendance of Batty and Ghosty – two very wonderful helpers in his life.  The photos are fairly shonky but we did indeed make frost and then looked at it under a microscope.
